Hajj is a very special journey that Muslims take to the city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia. It happens every year during the month of Dhul Hijjah, which is the last month of the Islamic calendar.

Hajj is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, which means it is something Allah wants Muslims to do if they can.

🌟 Why is Hajj Important?

Hajj is not just a trip—it’s an act of worship. It teaches us about:

  • Patience
  • Kindness
  • Unity

It reminds us to follow the examples of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Muhammad ď·ş.

In the Qur’an, Allah says:
“And Hajj to the House (Ka’bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, for those who can afford the journey.”
(Surah Aal-Imran, 3:97)

The Prophet ď·ş said:
“Whoever performs Hajj and does not do anything wrong, will return home as pure as the day he was born.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

What Happens During Hajj?

Let’s break it down into simple steps:

1. Niyyah (Intention) & Ihram

Muslims first make a special intention to perform Hajj. Then they wear the Ihram, which is simple white clothing. It shows that everyone is equal.

2. Tawaf – Walking Around the Ka’bah

Muslims walk around the Ka’bah 7 times. This is called Tawaf. The Ka’bah is the most special place for Muslims, and it faces all our prayers.

3. Sa’ee– Between Safa and Marwah

Next, Muslims walk between the hills of Safa and Marwah seven times, remembering Hajar (AS), who searched for water for her baby, Ismail. Allah gifted us with Zamzam water there!

4. Mina – The Tent City

Pilgrims go to Mina and sleep in tents. It is a time to rest, pray, and prepare.

5. Arafah – The Most Important Day

On the Day of Arafah, Muslims stand and make lots of du’a (prayers), asking Allah for forgiveness.

6. Muzdalifah – Sleeping Under the Stars

That night, pilgrims stay in Muzdalifah and collect small pebbles for the next step.

7. Jamarat – Throwing Pebbles

They throw pebbles at three stone pillars called Jamarat to commemorate how Prophet Ibrahim (AS) refused to bow to Shaytan.

8. Qurbani – The Animal Sacrifice

An animal like a sheep or goat is sacrificed to remember Prophet Ibrahim’s test. The meat is shared with the poor.

9. Tawaf Again – Final Step

Before leaving Makkah, Muslims perform a final Tawaf around the Ka’bah.
